About Section
Agronomy section involve following study areas:
a) Crop Husbandry and Integrated Farming System : - For conducting the practical’s well equipped designated laboratory is available with all the necessary land preparation implements, seed, manures, fertilizers, weeds, pesticides samples with sufficient sample bottles. Also for integrated farming system various components of IFS like dairy, vermicompost, poultry, sheep, goat, shed net nursery poly house, fruit orchard are established on farm for effective conducting of practical’s.
b) Irrigation water management :- Advanced irrigation systems like micro irrigation, sprinkler, drip, are established on the farm along with farm pond and well irrigation as a sustainable source of water are available on the farm. Live model of watershed management structures are available for students for study purpose. Irrigation park, water measuring devices and will be soon established on the farm.
c) Weed management : - All types of weed samples, charts photographs and weedicide samples and spraying equipments are available on farm for effective conducting of practical’s.
d) Agro meteorological observatory and automatic weather station: “C” class agro-meteorological observatory is established under the guidance of IMD Pune. e) Organic Farming: Well established organic farming input production and certified organic agricultural production units are established on the farm. It mainly includes the vermicompost, biogas, compost production, green manuring bio-agent production, plant extracts, and biodynamic production units are established on the farm.
f) Precision farming, GPS and GIS technology:- Computer laboratory equipped remote sensing GPS and GIS based practical’s are conducted on computers equipped with advanced GPS and GIS softwares.
About Laboratory
Practical’s are conducted by using models/specimens of seed, fertilizers, herbicides, manures, tools and implements, weed and crop plants identification, different methods of sowing, irrigation layouts, agro meteorological instruments, methods of fertilizer application, methods of weed management, production techniques of different field crops, use of modern software media like PowerPoint presentation, develop entrepreneurship among the students regarding seed production of field crops and their processing.
